About Me

Education was in Chicago, Emmett Grammar school and The Austin High School. Higher education was the corner of Madison and Central, "The Corner" on Chicago's west side. On one corner of "The Corner" was a drug store with a soda fountain where you could get drinks, etc. Outside among other things we pitched pennies and just hung out. On the other side of the street was Emmett Grammar School and the playground {PG}. It had a huge ball field where we spent alot of time. And down the street was the Bowling Alley [BA]., with about 32 alleys and pool and billiard tables. Alot of time was spent up there also. The Corner was a busy place where there were always "Characters" around from young guys to older men. Bookies, Gambling, and just hanging out. This was what we did from around 6th grade on. No drugs, no violence, just fun and sports and hanging out.

My friends from the corner 1

August 10,2009

To get a feel of what the Corner was like, read my profile.

My friends from the corner still get together. One of them, lets call him "Gloom Boy" to protect the identity of the innocent. Well, Gloomer was not gloomy in those years, but in later years he says that there is an evil empire out there that has the ability to assassinate all of us and in addition to that they have the ability to also make our final arrangements. He has spent many years fixated about them. He even knows who they are, but I will not reveal that, protect the innocent. Gloom Boy is not tall, not thin, does not have long legs, but in the corner years was one of the best left fielders in 16 inch softball. There were guys who could really drive the ball far out, but my boy could always run it down and catch it.

Another friend we will just call [M]. Thinking back, I felt he was stubborn. If a teacher asked him how much 2 plus 2 was, if he didn,t like the teacher he might answer 12, so not to give the teacher the satisfaction she was teaching him anything. But more important he was a very, very good and dependable 3rd baseman and a line drive hitter. He even had the ability to drive a car at a very young age. There is alot more to be said about this time, we will save more for later.
